Welcome Service for Rev Dr Linberg Wong

Rev Dr Linberg Wong was welcomed to the West London Mission Circuit and to King’s Cross Methodist Church on Sunday 14th September. Together with his family, Rev Linberg has travelled from Malaysia to be the pastor for the Mandarin and Cantonese speaking congregations at King’s Cross. The superintendent, Rev Peter Cornick said ‘we are delighted that Rev Linberg and his family have felt called to serve in the UK and that the Methodist Church has enabled this placement to happen. Rev Linberg will bring a rich blessing of God to us from his experience, and we hope, he and his family will find they too learn, grow and are blessed by God in being in the UK.’

Rev Faith Nyota, the new London District Chair, preached on the occasion and welcomed Rev Linberg. She spoke of how a new minister is not ‘the saviour’ but comes to join God’s work, already in progress, and that everyone is a minister of the gospel, sharing ministry with Rev Linberg. Rev Faith said that we are blessed by such cultural diversity found at King’s Cross. 

The large congregation heard about plans for the redevelopment of the building to meet the present age, including a professional video, and the day concluded with generous refreshments provided by the congregation.
